A varsity jacket should fit comfortably across the shoulders and leave room to move. This guide shows how to measure and choose your size. JACWEARS jackets are available in sizes XS to 6XL.
Quick answer
- Measure over a T-shirt, not a heavy sweater.
- Between two sizes? Larger for a relaxed fit, smaller for a closer fit.
- The Size Chart lists finished jacket measurements, so allow extra room over your body measurements (see below).
What you need
A soft measuring tape and a helper if possible. Measure over a T-shirt or light clothing, not over a heavy sweater.

The measurements that matter
| Measurement | How to measure |
|---|---|
| Chest | Around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms |
| Shoulders | Straight across the back, from one shoulder edge to the other |
| Sleeve length | From the shoulder edge down to your wrist bone |
| Body length | From the base of the neck to where you want the jacket to end |
Compare with the size chart
Our Size Chart lists the measurements of the finished jacket, laid flat. It does not list body measurements, so do not match your body numbers to it directly.
- Chest: add about 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 inches) to your chest measurement for a jacket with a light or plain lining, and about 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8 inches) for a thick quilted lining. The chart shows Front Chest (A) as the flat width, so multiply it by 2 to compare.
- Best method: lay a jacket that already fits you well flat on a table, measure it, and compare those numbers with the chart.
If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one for a relaxed fit, or the smaller one for a closer fit. Finished measurements can vary by about 1 to 2 cm because every jacket is made to order.
Fit tips by material
- Wool and leather: the body is structured, so choose a size that fits comfortably over a light layer.
- Satin and soft shell: lighter fabrics that sit closer to the body.
